How do I run the same date campaign again with a new date?
Sound familiar?
Your webinar countdown worked well and you're running another session next month. Or you ran a Valentine's offer last year and want the same emails this February. Or you run a monthly open evening and don't want to rebuild the reminders every time 🔁.
What's happening
Any workflow built on A shared date can be copied with Duplicate with a new date. You give it the new date and nothing else. Every email is copied, and every timing moves to fit the new date. "1 day before" is still 1 day before. Squashed emails still spread across the time each person has.
Why it works this way
In a date workflow, each email's timing is measured from the date, not from a fixed day on the calendar. So when the date changes, everything moves with it. That's what makes a good campaign reusable. You build it well once, then run it again whenever you need to 🙂.
What to do now
- Go to Email Workflows (https://app.co-kinetic.com/email-workflows) and open the shared-date workflow you want to reuse with View Details →.
- Press Duplicate with a new date.
- Enter the new date (and time, if your emails use hour-level reminders such as "1 hour before") and confirm.
- Open the new copy. Check any wording that mentions the old event by name or date, and update it. Merge fields such as [DAYS UNTIL WEBINAR] update themselves.
- Press Preview as a joiner to check the new dates.
- Choose who gets it, then switch the copy's Active toggle on.

If you want more detail
- Duplicate or change the date? Duplicate when it's a new event and the old one stays as a record. Change the date on the existing workflow when the same event has moved, for example the webinar is now a week later. Changing the date moves everyone's future emails. Emails already sent are never sent again.
- Birthdays and renewals don't need duplicating. A workflow built on each person's own date, with "This date comes round every year (birthday, renewal)" ticked, runs again every year by itself. See "How do I send birthday or renewal emails every year?".
- Recipes work the same way. A date-based recipe from the recipe library is built from timings relative to the date, so it fits whatever date you install it for. If you install it late, the squashed emails simply spread across the time left.
- Duplicate is for shared-date workflows. Rhythm workflows don't have a date to change.
The question behind the question
"Do I have to rebuild this every time?" No. The work you put into a good campaign keeps paying back. One webinar countdown can carry a whole series of webinars, and one seasonal offer can run every year 🎉.
The next question is usually...
- How does email timing work when a workflow runs around a date?
- How do I check who gets which email, and when?
- Which kind of email workflow should I use?
Still stuck? This usually means...
- You can't see Duplicate with a new date. It appears on workflows built on A shared date. If yours is a rhythm workflow, it has no date to move.
- Some emails in the copy mention the old date. The date was typed into the email. Replace it with a merge field, or edit the wording.
- A pinned email is missing for people who join the new copy late. That's correct: its moment had passed when they joined. See "How does email timing work when a workflow runs around a date?".
- Anything else. Tell us in the chat with the workflow name.
